Woman to watch: Angelica Cheung, of Vogue China. NOWNESS has posted this lovely video portrait of the gracious and forward-thinking editor, who handles the enormous task of editing one of the biggest Vogue publications in a rapidly developing country. Her vision of building an inspirational as well as aspirational magazine for women is clear:
“Since I had a daughter, my child, my view on modern women has changed slightly… and I had to think about what kind of a woman I would like my daughter to become. And suddenly, it became much clearer in my mind, that if I want my daughter to become such a kind of a woman, then I want my readers to become that kind of a woman.
The clothes [are] a reflection of who you see yourself, and how you want to live your life.”
What will be interesting to watch is the growth of Chinese designers, which she supports fully so that “it’s not just me, Vogue, talking, and I hope that there will be more people in the country who will have a voice and can represent this country,”
We’ll be listening.
